GETTING TO KNOW THE JABAL ARAFAH BATAM MOSQUE WHICH WAS DEVELOPED INTO A SMART MOSQUE

Jabal Arafah Mosque Batam, from the beginning, has been designed as a modern mosque with many functions. It is located in the business center of Batam City, in Lubuk Baja (formerly Nagoya), with a land area of 4,607 square meters. It is flanked by Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, and Thamrin City Batam, which is under construction, and will soon be operational in phases.

Since its first operation on Friday, July 13, 2012, Jabal Arafat mosque has grown and increasingly known, even become one of the favorite destinations of Batam citizens, as well as religious tourism destinations of citizens from other cities in Indonesia; from Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua. As well as visitors from friendly countries; Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, China, India, England, America, and others.

Until February 2020, according to our calculation records, the Jabal Arafat mosque was visited by worshipers and visitors of around 45 thousand people per month, including Friday prayer congregations of around eight thousand people, congregations of tabligh akbar, studies, and several taklim assemblies that are routinely held.

The construction of the mosque is carried out in stages. Until 2018, the construction of the Jabal Arafat Mosque in Batam has completed the 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors and roof-garden.

With the shape of the concrete dome with holes, as well as artistic lighting, planted with fruit trees and ornamental fish ponds, it is very “instagrammable” for visitors. From the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, pilgrims can directly see the dome and the blue sky horizon, because everything is “see-through – transparent”. There are also distant binoculars, to see the panorama of Batam, as well as the skyline of Singapore and Malaysia, with tall buildings, and large merchant ships passing by in the Singapore Strait.

Free internet access for worshipers and visitors is available all around the mosque, except in the prayer rooms.
